Musiq Soulchild Defends Transition to Rapper The Husel: They Won’t Give Me A Chance
Singer Musiq Soulchild (real name Taalib Johnson), who is known for his soulful tunes is taking a new approach to music. Last month, the 37-year-old who has an established career in R&B, shocked the masses by announcing he was transitioning into rap music, with a new alter ego, ‘The Husel‘. On Friday (October 10), ‘Husel’ stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss his new music with hosts Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God, and DJ Envy.
Seemingly on the defense, ‘Husel’ walked into the interview and it wasn’t long before tension rose between him and host Charlamagne. During the half hour conversation, the mood ranged from awkward and uncomfortable. Check out some excerpts and watch the full clip below.
On his name ‘The Husel’:

Other’s reaction the Husel:
It’s 50-50. I get a lot of love from people who never really rocked with Musiq Soulchild. But then on the other side, they won’t give me like no chance. I’ve been called all types of stuff. And then I’ve also been getting all these memes. It’s actually hilarious to me.

Its actually not unprecedented. Ryan Leslie did it,just not while on a label. Im surprised his label is allowing this. I don’t care as long as he is working on his soulchild stuff. I LOVE HIS MUSIC. Id be butthurt if he stopped it for ‘rapping’.
