Niecy Nash Snags Lead In ‘The Enforcers’, Star Jones Lands Scripted VH1 Series + Joe Morton Gets ‘Scandal’ Promotion

Congrats to Niecy Nash. The Reno 911! alumni and Scream Queens star, has landed the co-lead in a new Fox comedy called The Enforcers.

According to Yahoo News,

the single-camera project centers on two wildly different single mothers who find themselves partnered as inspectors in the Code Enforcement Department. But instead of fighting crime, they have been relegated to handling petty code breaking, like noise complaints, tree trimming and water misuse. Nash plays M.J., the more outspoken of the two. After struggling through a variety of odd jobs to provide for her children, she is thrilled to land the job of “code cop,” hoping it will bring her a sense of legitimacy. It does not.

And in other news, Star Jones is teaming up with VH1. The cable network is adapting the former View co-hosts 2011 novel Satan’s Sisters. The book and the series follow the antics at a long-running popular ladies’ talk show where “alliances are forged, careers are made and bridges are burned”, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Star shared her excitement, stating:

I’m so excited that Satan’s Sisters, which was such a fun book to write, is finally coming to the small screen. I would be lying if I said that Satan’s Sisters wasn’t influenced by the soap opera life of daytime TV, but it is a work of fiction. All the characters are inspired, in parts, by someone I’ve worked with, worked for, interviewed, was interviewed by and/or even prosecuted.

Moving on … Scandal fans can breathe a sigh of relief. One of our favorite characters, Joe Morton who plays Papa Pope, has been promoted to series regular, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

If you’re a fan of the hit Shonda Rhimes show, then you’re aware that Joe’s character was introduced on season two. He’s been a recurring guest role since season two and won an Emmy in 2014 for the part. He told the site,

Now I can cast some serious shade on a regular basis.
