Common & Queen Latifah – We Want A “Just Wright” Sequel
Social media is often used to measure the excitement of upcoming events and project. When used properly, it is an effective tool in capturing public opinion. Grammy award winning rapper and actor Common, recently asked his two million Instagram followers about making a sequel to a 2010 film that starred himself and fellow rap vet and actress Queen Latifah.
The movie in question, a romantic comedy called, “Just Wright” made over $21 million at the box office.
The film was produced by Latifah’s Flava Unit Entertainment company for a budget of $12 million dollars. In the Instagram post, Common is shown kissing Queen Latifah, hinting at the romantic chemistry between their movie characters. The “Like Water For Chocolate” rapper asks,
Should we do a Just Wright 2?
Latifah reposted the photo, indicating a potential sequel to the film may be on her mind as well.
Queen Latifiah, real name Dana Owens, played a physical therapist named Leslie Wright in the original film. She lands the dream job of working with basketball superstar Scott McKnight (Common). All goes well until Leslie finds that she is falling in love with him. Scott, however, is oblivious to Leslie’s romantic overtures and focuses his attention on Morgan (Paula Patton), Leslie’s gorgeous friend, who would love to be the basketball player’s trophy wife.
There is no telling when a potential sequel would come out, but the Queen is staying busy with other projects. Along with her Flavor Unit Entertainment partner Shakim Compere, Latifah is set to produce travel documentary series about female comedians and their famous friends.
