EJ Johnson’s Best Friend/Former Reality Star Found Dead on Sidewalk, Pantless w/ Cocaine

Lyric McHenry was known as a former reality star, a graduate of Stanford University, and one of EJ Johnson’s best friend(s). Hours after celebrating her birthday, McHenry, 26, was discovered deceased right above the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx Tuesday morning. The former reality star was found “sprawled out on the sidewalk” around 5 AM with a pajama top, underwear, no pants, and an unidentified amount of cocaine. Police are suspecting McHenry died from a drug overdose, and she was about 20 weeks pregnant.

Before her passing, McHenry shared multiple videos and snapshots to her Instagram story, highlighting the adventures from barhopping on her birthday. According to police, her knees had appeared to have been bruised, and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

Just last week, McHenry and her “best friend for life,” EJ were in Miami ringing Lyric’s birthday. In an Instagram post, EJ writes,

“Happy birthday to my best friend who has strutted with my in princess gowns since day 1 @lyric_leigh words cannot express how much I love and appreciate you in my life. Your constant love, respect and companionship gives me the confidence to live my truth every single day and I am so blessed that even as baby divas we recognized the greatness in each other. I love you”

Aside from McHenry being a Stanford grad, she also was a producer and star on EJ’s reality show EJNYC. She reportedly worked for Complex Networks and Refinery29 in their video production departments. At the age of 15, she earned the opportunity to work alongside the Obama’s during Barack Obama’s campaign. Her father is also known as director and producer in Hollywood. He created 90s classics like New Jack City and Jason’s Lyric.

EJ has not responded to the news of his friend’s passing.
