Surprised Student Awarded $100k Scholarship From Beyonce & Jay Z
Jay Z and Beyoncé are dynamic performers and incredible business owners, but most importantly they give back. Their foundations – the BeyGood Foundation and the Shawn Carter Foundations – are teaming up to donate over $1 million to deserving high seniors to pay for their college education. According to their press release, 11 children’s will be awarded $100,000 based on “academic excellence” and
“financial needs that would make it hard for them to enter a college or university for the academic year 2018-2019.”
Well, the Carters kept their promise.
Watch Keshawn Morgan’s emotional response. He was surprised by DJ Khaled’s announcement during the Orlando stop of the On the Run II Tour! The Shawn Carter Foundation captioned:
“@shawncartersf The recently announced OTR II scholarship from @BeyGood and @ShawnCarterSF, has officially announced the first recipients in Orlando and Atlanta, chosen by Boys and Girls Club of America. Congratulations to Orlando senior Keshawn Morgan and Atlanta senior Karissa Jackson!”
And it doesn’t stop there! After Beyoncé’s riveting Coachella tribute to HBCUs, (historically black colleges and universities) the superstar donated $25,000 to students at several HBCUs – including Tuskegee University, Bethune-Cookman College, and Wilberforce University.
Is anyone considering re-enrolling in high school to be eligible for this scholarship?
