Donald Glover Retires Childish Gambino For Good
Donald Glover has been hinting at this for over a year, but it seems he may have finally done it. While performing at Madison Square Garden in New York Friday evening, Donald Glover officially announced the retirement of his moniker, Childish Gambino. He told concertgoers,
If you bought a ticket to this concert, that means you bought a ticket to the last Childish Gambino tour ever.
In 2017, Donald Glover announced the retirement of Childish Gambino, however, he went on to sign a deal with RCA Records, which confused fans. During the Grammy’s in January, he revealed that he still had plans to retire the moniker, likely after his final project. He went on to release new music this summer, including “Summertime Magic” and “Feels Like Summer” from the Summer Pack project.
At Madison Square Garden over the weekend, Glover performed tracks from his projects Because The Internet and Awaken, My Love. He also debuted some new music, an R&B track titled “Spirits.”
During the show, Gambino wanted fans to live in the moment and not on their cell phones.
You don’t need to record this shit. This is that moment. This is not a concert. This is church.
Did you get to see Donald Glover’s last show as Childish Gambino?
