Ex NBA Star Kenny Smith’s Daughter Kayla Smith Cast In “STAR”

This week, Kayla Smith announced she will join the cast of STAR on FOX as Olivia, the sister of the young woman who dies in tragedy. Kayla, who is the daughter of sports commentator and ex NBA star Kenny Smith, will make her debut tonight (October 10th).

STAR is the story of three girls’ rise to fame. Kayla joins the star-studded cast which includes Queen Latifah as Carlotta, Ryan Destiny as Alex, Brittany O’Grady as Simone, Quincy Brown as Derek, Amiyah Scott as Cotton and Brandy Norwood as Cassie.

Kayla says of her upcoming role,

Being on star has always been a dream for me I’m so grateful I got this opportunity and can’t wait for everyone to meet Olivia and see what she brings to the table. 

Kayla Smith, also known as Kayla Brianna, is a “triple threat” performer. Her theatrical credits include: CW’s Black Lighting, Freeform’s Switched at Birth, TBS’ Meet The Smiths and as the lead for indie thriller Payment Received. Her music influence has garnered over 35 million streams and views worldwide. Her sound, which has the perfect blend of Pop, R&B and Soul, has put her on the map as iHeartRadio’s 2017 “On the Verge” artist as well as earning her a nomination for “Best New R&B Artist.”
