Singer Raheem DeVaughn Calls Out Rude & Disrespectful Police: You’re A Servant Of the Public!
Raheem DeVaughn shared his negative experience with Washington D.C. police officer on Instagram over the weekend. The singer says he was headed to tend to someone in distress when he was stopped by D.C. police for an unknown reason. DeVaughn proceeded to film the officer,
“So I asked this officer could I get through. Y’all know what I do for the city, I was very polite. He’s 33 years old, he doesn’t know who I am.
He later clarified the video on his Instagram Story,
In regards to everybody having an opinion about what I posted in regards to the D.C. police officer – I don’t give a f*ck about what your opinion is. You know how many cool *ss police officers I know – or don’t know – it’s not about me assuming what someone knowing who I was? I never go anywhere assuming somebody knows who I was.
Adding,
First of all, I was trying to get to somebody who was in distress, that’s the first thing. The second thing, I was very polite and not rude. And the third thing, once he decided to be rude and be disrespectful to me. I asked him to call his lieutenant, which he refused to do. At that point, I pulled out my camera, asked for his badge number, we had an exchange of words after that then I got back in my vehicle – in my car service – and I ain’t gone say what I said after that.
Just because you’re in a position of power or in position of authority or whatever because you’re carrying a badge or gun doesn’t mean you have to be rude or disrespectful – any of that. You’re a servant of the public. And that’s the power of social media, you speak up for yourself, you can have an opinion. Just to be clear, this is not about him not knowing who I am. He said that sh*t. Not me.
