Spike Lee’s ‘BlacKkKlansman’ Wins Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay
Congratulations to Spike Lee! On Sunday night, the 61-year-old director won an Academy Award for BlacKkKlansman. The announcement was made from his good friend, Samuel L. Jackson. When approaching the stage, to accept his award, Spike excitedly jumped on Samuel happily embracing him. See the clip below.
During his speech, Spike said
“The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let’s all mobilize. Let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let’s do the right thing!”
Spike’s production company, 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, has produced over 35 films since 1983. He made his directorial debut with She’s Gotta Have It (1986), and has since directed such films as Do the Right Thing (1989), Malcolm X (1992), The Original Kings of Comedy (2000), 25th Hour (2002), Inside Man (2006), Chi-Raq (2015), and BlacKkKlansman (2018). Lee has also acted in 10 of his own films.
