Drake Removes Michael Jackson Song From Set List Amid ‘Leaving Neverland’ Controversy
While celebs like Mo’Nique and Nick Cannon have called out Oprah Winfrey for her Leaving Neverland documentary, Drake seems to have taken a different stance.
Drake has officially removed Michael Jackson’s unreleased song Don’t Matter To Me hit his Assassination Vacation set list after Winfrey sat down with two men who say Jackson sexually abused them when they were children.
Drake sampled the song for his latest album, Scorpion (take a listen above). While he rocked the stage to the song in the beginning of his tour last year, he definitely didn’t include it in his first show in Manchester, which marked his first in the UK, on March 10, according to reports.
Drake has yet to say that the song was removed because of the documentary, but speculation says the Leaving Neverland special was the reason why.
Jackson cannot defend himself against the allegations, but his family has his back and has denied all of the accusations Wade Robson and James Safechuck made in the four-hour documentary.
Jackson’s older brother, Jackie Jackson, says that Michael’s children were blindsided by the documentary.
“They can’t believe it, because they know Wade. They can’t believe what is going on.”
As previously reported, Michael’s only daughter, Paris Jackson, was afraid the documentary would negatively impact her growing acting career.
“She wants to act but knows this could affect those plans…she was in a movie last year but believes the documentary is already scaring directors away because of the abuse her father is accused of may put movie goers off her,” an insider said.
“It all comes down to marketing. The owry is that any movies she stars in will be derailed if Michaels’ abuse scandal is all people think about when they see her on screen.”
Radio stations have also removed Jackson’s music after the documentary aired earlier this month. How do you feel about Drake allegedly pulling the song? Let us know in the comments.
