Isaiah Washington Slams Obama, Praises Trump For Prison Reform: I Will Work W/ Anyone As Long As They Get Things Done
Actor Isaiah Washington is no stranger to controversy—and he is certainly guaranteed more of it, courtesy of his recent comments about former President Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
Isaiah Washington didn’t hold back on his opinions of Barack Obama, as he slammed the former president and his administration, while offering considerable praise to Donald Trump for his stance on prison reform via the First Step Act.

Earlier this month, Trump celebrated the First Step Act, a prison reform bill focused on inmate rehabilitation, with a dinner that included prominent figures, with Washington as one of the guests. Additionally, the event featured a discussion regarding continuing reform efforts. Washington said that this is something that Obama never did during his 8-year presidency.
Doubling down on his comments about Obama, Washington wrote on social media:
“I voted for 44 twice. I even checked my emails in his Senate Office while lobbying for Salone to be given another chance to rebrand. Not once in 8 years was I given any support regarding Africa or the Black Agenda, but 45 invites me to the WH to celebrate the #FirstStepAct.”

He followed that up with a clarification on his political party affiliation:
“Those who know, know that I’m not a Democrat or a Republican. I will work w/h anyone as long as things get done. The #FirstStepAct was passed on December 21, 2018 w/h the hard work of @JessyMichele @LouislReed @VanJones68 and @cut_50 I’m proud to stand with them all today.”

However, the former Grey’s Anatomy star didn’t stop there. Not pleased with the backlash he received regarding his comments, he went on a social media firing off a series of tweets addressing his critics.
