Eminem Celebrates His 11th Year of Sobriety
Grammy award winner rapper Eminem reveals over the weekend he’s successfully been sober from drugs for more than a decade. In a post, the 46-year-old shared his milestone moment being 11 years clean by posting a photo of his medallion that’s stamped with the roman numeral for eleven, “XI,” and the words “Unity,” “Service” and “Recovery.” Eminem adds,
“11 years – still not afraid.”

In 2010, Eminem (real name: Marshall Mathers) opened up abusing of prescription pills.
“I used to get pills wherever I could. I was just taking anything that anybody was giving to me.”
He revealed during his lowest point taking a number of prescription drugs including methadone, which the rapper nearly faced death, overdosing in 2007,
“Vicodin, Valium and Ambien, and toward the end, which caused my overdose, methadone.”
By the year 2008, the father of three made the decision to turn his life around and stand on the side of sobriety on April 20.

His albums “Relapse” and “Recovery” deal with his addiction and his comeback.
In 2015, the rapper said he replaced addiction with exercise after successfully completing rehab.
“When I got out of rehab, I needed to lose weight, but I also needed to figure out a way to function sober. Unless I was blitzed out of my mind, I had trouble sleeping. So I started running. It gave me a natural endorphin high, but it also helped me sleep, so it was perfect.”
