Death Row Records Is Now Owned By Toy Company Hasbro

The record company that brought us Tupac, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg is now owned by the toy company that brought us Mr. Potato Head and My Little Pony.

Suge Knight, Dr. Dre and The D.O.C. launched Death Row Records in 1991.

In a very interesting turn of events, Hasbro purchased Entertainment One, which is the parent company of Death Row Records. The deal cost $4 billion.

Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner said in a statement,

“The acquisition of eOne adds beloved story-led global family brands that deliver strong operating returns to Hasbro’s portfolio and provides a pipeline of new brand creation driven by family-oriented storytelling.”

“In addition, Hasbro will leverage eOne’s immersive entertainment capabilities to bring our portfolio of brands that have appeal to gamers, fans and families to all screens globally and realize full franchise economics across our blueprint strategy for shareholders. We are excited to welcome eOne’s talented employees from around the world into the Hasbro family.”

The CFO Deborah Thomas also said they are optimistic saving $130 million in costs by 2022. And that doesn’t even speak to the potential revenue.
