Rep. Ilhan Omar Accused Of Stealing Woman’s Husband, Files For Divorce While – Omar Denies Infidelity

Rep. Ilhan Omar is making waves for women of color as a Minnesota congresswoman, but she’s now being caught up in a scandal. One D.C. woman, Beth Mynett, 55, has officially filed for divorce with claims that her husband, political consultant Timothy Mynett, 38, is allegedly having an affair with Omar. 

Beth, who works as a medical director for D.C.’s Department of Corrections, said in her divorce papers that Tim told her he and Omar were having an affair back in April. That’s when he allegedly made a

“shocking declaration of love” for Omar.

Omar previously paid Tim $230,000 to help her with her congresswoman campaign back in 2018. She became the first Somali in U.S. Congress when she won the election.  She is also the first women of color to represent the state of Minnesota in Congress.

According to court documents, Beth and Tim physically separated around April 7, 2019.

“Defendant met Rep. Omar while working for her. Although devastated by the betrayal and deceit that preceded his abrupt declaration, Plaintiff told Defendant that she loved him, and was willing to fight for the marriage. Defendant, however, told her that was not an option for him.’’

Tim allegedly moved out of their home the next day. Court documents added,

“It is clear to Plaintiff that her marriage to Defendant is over and that there is no hope of reconciliation.”

The two married in 2012 after dating for six years. They have a 13-year-old son together. Beth has asked a judge to grant her primary physical custody of their child because of Tim’s busy traveling schedule with Omar. She sad in court documents,

“Defendant’s more recent travel and long work hours now appear to be more related to his affair with Rep. Omar than with his actual work commitments.”

She also claimed he,

“put his son in harm’s way by taking him out in public with Rep. Omar, who at that time had garnered a plethora of media attention along with death threats, one rising to the level of arresting the known would-be assassin that same week.”

Meanwhile, Omar herself is married to Ahmed Hirsi, a senior policy aid for a Minnesota city councilwoman. She was previously married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi and has one daughter with Hirsi.

She has also denied the affair with Tim. When asked if she and her husband were separating and if she was in a relationship with Tim, Omar said,

“No, I am not. As I said yesterday, I have no interest in really allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it.”
