Odell Beckham Jr. Sued After Friend Drives & Crashes BMW
Odell Beckham Jr. Sued For Damages To $103K BMW After Friend Drives And Crashes The Car
NFL star Odell Beckham, Jr. probably wishes he didn’t let his friend drive a $103,000 BMW.
Celebrity Motors let Odell Beckham borrow the 2017 BMW 650XG during his days with the New York Giants. But the company said he was the only person who was allowed to drive it.
Still, on Oct. 24, 2017, Beckham allegedly let his friend Blake Anderson get behind the wheel and go for a joy ride. Anderson is accused of recklessly driving the luxury car through the Lincoln Tunnel, and speeding over multiple traffic lanes to exit the tunnel. But he ended up hitting another car instead, causing $38,000 in damages to the BMW.
Lexington Insurance, the insurance company for Celebrity Motors has filed a lawsuit, stating that Beckham is responsible because he’s the one who let his friend drive the car. It also said Beckham should have been aware that his friend is a dangerous driver. Still, Beckham, who’s currently in a $95 million contract, could win as the company said it only had an “oral agreement” with him, so he could easily say he didn’t agree to be liable for someone else driving the car.
If he’s ordered to pay, this won’t be the first time the Cleveland Browns player will have to pay for his decisions. Just earlier this month, he took issue with getting fined for fighting Baltimore Ravens player Marlon Humphrey during a game.

Still, Beckham said:
“I’ve come a long way. I probably would’ve been suspended for the next game if I would’ve done what I wanted to do or more, knowing how I get treated. It was just something I had to [do] for my teammates and not hurt them even more than the 15-yard penalty.”
“I think it’s crazy. The NFL finds ways to just take it. They’re going to take it from you. I understand a penalty, getting fined for that. But pants above the knees, a shirt hanging out and we’re talking about a T-shirt that cost $5 to make, and you’re getting $5,000 taken from you. Pads above your knees, and I’m like, you really think that this little knee pad covering my kneecap is going to affect, if somebody hits me, weighs 250 pounds, running 18 mph. I don’t do physics, but if I get hit, this is not going to protect me.“
