Steph Curry Is The 1st NBA Player To Earn $40 Million In One Season
Stephen Curry Is The First NBA Player to Make $40 Million in Salary in Single Season
The former NBA MVP, Steph Curry managed to carry home three championships with the Golden State Warriors, since 2015. In total salary earnings, Curry signed a five-year contract worth, $201.2 million back in 2017. His contract pays an average annual salary of more than $40 million, with the annual value increasing to more than $45 million by 2021.
He’s currently the highest-paid player in the NBA over other household fellow NBA names like LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Second in line, Houston Rockets Russell Westbrook previously signed a five-year, $206.8 million ($38.5 million per season), contract extension with his previous team in Oklahoma City that ties him with former Rocket Chris Paul in salary, according to reports.
As previously reported, this week, NBA legend Michael Jordan made headlines when he stated that he was cut from a different breed than current NBA superstars.
“I’m going in the trenches. I’ve played against and with all these guys. I’m going with who I know. Every single night, the responsibility to go out there and represent greatness every single night…”
He said of Steph Curry,
“He’s a great player, not a Hall-of-Famer yet.”
The following day (Oct. 22), Curry responded to Jordan’s snub, stating:
“I think I’m good, but then I’m never complacent. I know I have more to prove to myself. When you hear a guy like that who’s the greatest of all time, it’s kind of funny.”
