Angela Simmons Talks Waiting Until 28 To Have Sex: I Went From Virgin To Pregnant, It Happened Very Quickly For Me

While Angela Simmons is a proud mom of an adorable three-year-old boy Sutton, Jr., she’s reflecting on the controversy that her pregnancy first sparked in 2016.

Most of us remember that Angela Simmons touted being a virgin and saving herself for marriage, only to announce her pregnancy shortly after.

She and her brother JoJo Simmons appeared on The Dr. Oz Show that aired Friday (Nov. 22). They were discussing T.I.’s confession that he takes his daughter to the OBGYN to guarantee she’s still a virgin (read about that here), and Angela Simmons opened up about her own experience (via Madame Noire).

“Well, I publicly spoke about it and a lot of people knew that I was a virgin and I waited until I was like 28, and I went from virgin to pregnant. So it was a lot and it was in public. So a lot of people were like, ‘Were you lying or what happened?’ But it just happened really quick for me. So, I mean, for me, I can understand… It was a choice of mine to speak about it, to encourage whoever wants to do it to know that it’s not not cool, you know? You have all the time in the world to do that.”

Once she revealed her pregnancy to the world, many wondered her father, Rev. Run Simmons would think about it. Angela Simmons confessed that she was afraid of disappointing him, but said in true Rev. Run Simmons fashion, he ended up supporting her through it all.

“He was just calm. He was like, ‘Okay. I’m this guy. My arms are open to you. I’m not going to be mad.’ I was just scared. And you know, in that moment I was just crying because I felt like I let him down. The last thing I want to do is let down my father or my family. So for me, it meant a lot that he was open arms and like, there for me.”

Sadly enough, the father of Angela Simmon’s son, Sutton Tennyson, Sr., tragically died last year.
