Queen Elizabeth Says Royals Supports Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Decision To Leave Royal Family Duties: They’ve Made It Clear They Don’t Want To Be Reliant On Public Funds
Queen Elizabeth has broken her silence just days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they would be stepping away from their senior roles in the royal family.

The royal family held a summit recently over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision, and the queen released a statement shortly after. According to reports, Meghan Markle is speculated to have called in to the meeting as she’s in Canada. Prince Charles and Prince Harry were in attendance as well.
The Queen said that while the famous family would have liked for the couple to stay, they support Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fully.
“Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family. My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”
She also spoke on the couple’s desire to be financially independent.
“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives. It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”
The couple has received lots of criticism and support amid their move. Reports even swirled that Oprah Winfrey encouraged them to make the shocking move. She’s since released a statement and denied having any say in their decision.

“Meghan and Harry do not need my help figuring out what’s best for them. I care about them both and support whatever decisions they make for their family.”
