Jussie Smollett – Brothers Accused Of Staging Attack Lost Jobs & Are Eating At A Food Pantry: It’s Not Going Well For Them
One year later, residual damage remains from the shocking Jussie Smollett scandal with Nigerian brothers, Abel and Ola Osundairo. Their story has it that the former “Empire” star reportedly paid them $3500 to stage a racist/homophobic attack in Chicago last year. According to their lawyer, Gloria Schmidt, the incident has rendered them nearly unemployed.

Gloria Schmidt offered this comment:
“It’s been really hard for them, they’ve tried to kind of jump back into the life they had [and] they couldn’t. They were getting 4 to 5 auditions a month before, that’s completely dried up. Their talent agent dropped them…they’re eating at the food pantry. It’s not going well for them.”
She continued:
“People that had been making appointments for personal training ended up being reporters who were just trying to talk to them.”

Gloria Schmidt says that Abel and Ola found out that Jussie Smollett had been indicted through the media just as the public did. Here’s how they are processing the news, according to their lawyer:
“[They are] very even-keeled. They have no real skin in the game, they just know their role is to be honest and tell the truth about what happened…They know what happened, they know what he did, he’s making it up to be something that’s not accurate…vindication will come at the end when there’s a total resolution.”
However, if asked to testify, Schmidt doesn’t anticipate Abel and Ola Osundairo embellishing their interaction with the 37-year-old to seek their own justice – only presenting the facts:
“Whatever shape that takes, whether it’s him fessing up, I think calling him a liar is not in their code, they wouldn’t want to make such a bold statement they just know he’s not being in accord with the facts…This is the end of the beginning for them, they know there’s a long road ahead and there’s a lot of things that need to happen before a jury or judge finds they’re truthful.”
Jussie Smollett is set to appear in court to be arraigned on February 24th.
