Floyd Mayweather Contacts George Floyd’s Family, Offers To Pay For Funeral Costs
Floyd Mayweather is using his celebrity power to give back. According to Hollywood Unlocked, Floyd Mayweather Jr. revealed his plans to pay for George Floyd‘s funeral costs. According to the site,
Mayweather shared that he was distraught after learning the minimal charge former officer Chauvin received for killing George — just third-degree murder and manslaughter. He told Jason that he was in a group chat with Anzel Jennings, the CEO of TMT music label, who shared that he actually grew up with George in Houston. Following their conversion, Jennings reached out to the family on Mayweather’s behalf. The 43-year-old star felt compelled to do something so he committed to paying for the three funeral services in Houston, George’s hometown – Minnesota and Charlotte. The family is also looking to have a fourth service in another location. Mayweather has also offered to take care of those expenses as well.

As previously reported, George Floyd was killed on May 25. According to a video of the incident, while George was laying on the ground during his arrest, a police officer had his knee of George’s neck for around 9 minutes. During that time, George was heard in the video screaming ‘ I Can’t Breathe’. It was also reported that while one cop has his knee of George’s neck, two other officers had their knees on George’s back.
