Model Duckie Thot Gets Backlash Over Breonna Taylor Tweet, Later Apologizes
Model Duckie Thot is facing quite a bit of criticism after referencing Breonna Taylor in a series of photos of herself. She posted a couple of photos of herself posing and smiling in a green strapless dress with the caption,
“anyways, Breonna Taylor.”
Duckie Thot has now deleted the post and explained in her apology tweet that her intention was to indicate that Breonna Taylor was more important than her photos.
Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old black medical technician in Louisville, Kentucky, was the victim of a police-involved shooting where she was shot and killed by police officers who were carrying out a no-knock search warrant at her apartment. Only one officer involved. More than three months later, none of the officers involved have been arrested. One of the officers, Brett Hankison, has been fired.
Fans on Twitter did not hold back about Duckie Thot’s post. Check out what some of them had to say:
Duckie Thot, who was born Nyadak Thot, posted her apology tweet a few hours after her original post received many negative comments and says she did not realize that her post was “tone deaf:”
“i apologize for the misunderstanding, it was a slide i saw many ladies post without realizing it may come across tone deaf. the point was, Breonna Taylor matters more than my picture. once i was told that it was in poor taste i quickly deleted it.”
