Kanye West Reportedly Drops Out Of 2020 Presidential Race After He Attempted To Get On Ballot
Rapper and designer Kanye West’s presidential bid is reportedly coming to an end. According to a report at Intelligencer, the 43 year old attempted to get his name on the ballot in Florida and other states as a third party candidate. A political operative, who remained anonymous, was approached about going to Florida on behalf of Kanye West to gather the signatures he needed in order to appear on the ballot. Kanye would need 132,781 signatures in order to be on the ballot. However, the deadline for the signatures is July 15.

Intelligencer spoke to Steve Kramer, a “get out the vote” specialist who runs a firm that helps potential presidential candidates with their campaigns. Kramer said he was hired to help Kanye get on the Florida and South Carolina ballot, as well as collect signatures. Kramer stated that Kanye’s team was working over the weekend in Florida with paid workers and volunteers helping to collect signatures. Kramer described the support for Kanye’s presidential bid as “overwhelming.”
On July 9, Intelligencer tried to reach out to the rapper’s publicist but they did not respond. Later on, Kramer told the site that the rapper was no longer in the race stating, “He’s Out”. When asked what happened, Kramer said,
“I’ll let you know what I know once I get all our stuff canceled. We had over 180 people out there today.”
An hour after the site spoke to Kramer, Kanye West posted a video to his twitter page showing himself voting for the first time in Wyoming and encouraged his followers to vote.

Kramer claimed that the former staff was disappointed that they no longer have a job because they were excited about a Kanye presidential run. Kramer tells the website,
“I have nothing good or bad to say about Kanye. Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level. Any candidate running for president for the first time goes through these hiccups.”
The surprising news comes as Kanye has reportedly pulled in 2% of the vote nationally. Redfield & Wilton Strategies polled 2,000 registered voters in the U.S, Joe Biden came in first place with 48%, with Donald Trump in second with 40%. After Kanye was added to the poll, Donald Trump’s number dipped to 39% while Joe Biden’s percentage remained the same. Here are the results of the poll.
