R. Kelly Fans March In Chicago, Demand His Release From Jail [VIDEO]

While protests against police brutality and inequality continue around the world, supporters of disgraced singer R. Kelly have taken to marching to demand his release from jail.

R. Kelly is currently in jail in Chicago, awaiting his trial for child pornography and other serious charges. He has been in jail for a little more than a year, despite his legal team’s multiple attempts to get him released.

Now, his unapologetic fans have stepped in and taken matters into their own hands by hitting the streets of Chicago in protest.

Fans were seen carrying a banner that reads,

“Free R. Kelly ‘Due Process'”

Many were also heard chanting,

“Free R. Kelly!”

Last July, federal prosecutors indicted R. Kelly on 18 federal charges including kidnapping, racketeering, obstruction of justice, and forced labor.

Most recently, three of his associates were arrested for allegedly bribing victims in the case.

Federal agents claim Richard Arline Jr.’s allegedly discussed a $500,000 payment to a victim to keep her from cooperating with the government.  During a recorded phone conversation, he was allegedly heard saying,

“If I had a way to talk to Rob (Kelly), being next to him and telling him what’s going on, without nobody listening to, no feds, nobody, he gonna pay her . . . off to be quiet.”

He continued, adding that she

“got too much. She got too much.”

Donnell Russell, an alleged manager and advisor of Kelly’s, reportedly threatened to reveal sexually explicit photos of one victim to the public if she did not end her lawsuit. The third associate, Michael Williams, is accused of setting fire to an SUV in June that was parked outside a Florida home where an alleged R. Kelly victim had been staying.

His attorney, Steve Greenberg, shut down those allegations on Twitter.

Still, just after, Donnell Russell was formally charged with two counts of “threatening physical harm by interstate communication, and conspiracy to do the same,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York.

Allegedly, Donnell Russell made an alarming phone call to NeueHouse, a theater in Manhattan where a Surviving R. Kelly screening was taking place last year. The controversial Lifetime docuseries featured various women who claimed they were sex abuse victims at the hands of the Grammy-winning singer and songwriter over a number of years.

Donnell Russell allegedly tried to stop the screening through a cease and desist order. However, when that didn’t work, he allegedly called the theater directly and advised the employee who answered the phone that someone would open fire if the screening took place. Authorities say that as a result, the screening ended.
