News broke, first reporting that Usain Bolt tested positive for COVID-19, causing him to clarify in an Instagram video. He said,
“Like everybody else I checked social media which is saying I am confirmed to have COVID-19. I did a test on Saturday to leave because I work.”
He said that he’s waiting for his test results to see how to move forward.
“I am trying to be responsible so I am going to stay in and stay away from my friends…I’m having no symptoms so I am going to quarantine myself and wait on the confirmation, to see what is the protocol and how I should go about quarantining myself.”
Usain Bolt added that he told anyone who had come into contact with him to also self-quarantine and get tested.
“Until then, I am saying anyone who has had contact with me should just to be safe, quarantine by themselves, and just to take it easy. And just to let people know, be safe out there, alright?”
Usain Bolt also had a major life moment during the COVID-19 pandemic. He and his longtime girlfriend, Kasi Bennett, welcomed their first child in May.
