Lil Wayne Reportedly Sold Young Money’s Entire Catalog As Part Of His $100 Million Deal With Universal
The money train won’t be slowing down anytime soon for rap star Lil Wayne. As we previously reported, this past June Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., sold his masters to Universal Music Group for $100 million. This huge deal doesn’t just include Lil Wayne’s musical contributions but reportedly Young Money’s entire catalog as well. This includes the work that Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga did while under the Young Money umbrella.

Due to this deal, UMG reportedly now owns Drake’s pre-2018 catalog, including Take Care, Nothing Was the Same, and Views. The musical corporation also allegedly now owns the rights to Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday, The Pinkprint, and Queen albums. Her song ‘Yikes’ which was released in February of this year is credited to Young Money/Cash Money and is seemingly apart of the deal as well.
The details of this deal were reportedly brought to light because of a lawsuit from Lil Wayne’s former manager Ronald Sweeney. The lawsuit states:
“Plaintiffs are informed and believe… that, subsequent to [Sweeney’s] termination [as Wayne’s manager], specifically in or about June of 2020, Lil Wayne was able to sell the Young Money Masters to Universal Music Group for in excess of $100 Million.”
