Cardi B Settles Lawsuit With Former Manager: Feels Good To Be Free
Good news for Cardi B! The two- year legal battle with her former manager Klenord “Shaft” Raphael is finally over. According to court documents, a judge has dismissed the entire case with prejudice, which means neither party can ever bring this case to court again. In 2018, Shaft sued the “Invasion Of Privacy” rapper for $10 million claiming he discovered her and played an important part in her music career. He claimed that Cardi B forgot all about him after the success of her megahit “Bodak Yellow” which he says he helped her create. Shaft also claims that he was the one who helped Cardi B land her spot on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: New York.”
Cardi B later filed a $30 million countersuit against her former manager, Shaft, claiming that the contract was unfair and that he was illegally taking bigger cuts of her earnings. Cardi also claims that Shaft was very controlling and even allegedly tried to dictate who she could and couldn’t date.
Reportedly, this legal battle was one of the reasons why Cardi hasn’t released her sophomore album, and why she hasn’t had full access to the earnings she’s received from the success of her first album, “Invasion Of Privacy”. Cardi B took to Twitter to show her excitement in her legal battle coming to an end. The “WAP” rapper wrote,
“Feels good to be free”
