Bill Cosby Thanks Jesse Jackson For Advocating For His Release From Prison Amid The Coronavirus Pandemic
Bill Cosby is showing his appreciation towards civil rights activist Jesse Jackson for advocating for his prison release amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Philadelphia Tribune published an article earlier this month where Jesse Jackson expressed his support for Bill Cosby being released early for health reasons. In the article Jesse Jackson said,
“He’s 84 and blind. Who’s he going to hurt? He should be home and free and away from all of those germs. [The] government needs to do something.”
He continued and said that Bill Cosby
“shouldn’t still be in prison.”
He added,
“I’m coming forward to speak out because I believe in justice too.”
As previously reported, Bill Cosby was convicted in 2018 on three counts of aggravated sexual assault. He is currently serving a three-to-10-year sentence in a Pennsylvania state prison.

A representative for the actor issued a statement on behalf of Mr. Cosby and his wife, Camille Cosby, to USA TODAY on December 30th. The statement thanked Jesse Jackson for his support towards the famous television dad. It read,
“Mr. & Mrs. Cosby are forever grateful to Reverend Jackson and his family because he has been working feverishly to get the State of PA to release Mr. Cosby, since the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, back in April. We remain hopeful and prayerful that the PA State Supreme Court will vacate Mr. Cosby’s false imprisonment, due to Mr. Cosby having immunity. If that’s not the case, we are hopeful and prayerful that the PA State Supreme Court will warrant Mr. Cosby a new trial.”
