President Donald Trump Has Been Suspended From YouTube For The Next Week
The number of social media sites that have suspended President Donald Trump from their platform has increased. On Tuesday, January 12th, YouTube announced its decision to ban Donald Trump’s channel for at least one week, if not longer, for violating company policies. According to YouTube, Donald Trump’s channel earned a strike because a now-deleted video upload incited violence. The video-sharing platform removed a video from the White House’s channel for violating policy as well. However, that particular channel was given a warning and has not been suspended following the strike. YouTube did not share any key details about the video that earned President Trump the suspension. However, YouTube did release a statement about the suspension and said,
“After careful review, and in light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to the Donald J. Trump channel and issued a strike for violating our policies for inciting violence.”
The statement continued,
“As a result, in accordance with our long-standing strikes system, the channel is now prevented from uploading new videos or livestreams for a minimum of seven days—which may be extended.”

Until this week, YouTube was the only remaining popular social media platform that hadn’t suspended Trump in some capacity. As previously reported, President Donald Trump has already been suspended from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. His suspensions from Facebook and Instagram seem to be temporary and will last until the end of his presidency. While his Twitter ban is more permanent. Twitter announced on Friday, January, 8th, its decision to permanently ban Trump from the platform.

Trump’s social media bans follow his act of inciting violence as hundreds of his supporters rioted at the Capitol in protest to Congress confirming he lost the recent presidential election.
