Meghan Markle Tells Oprah That There Were ‘Conversations’ About ‘How Dark’ Their Son Archie’s Skin Color Would Be
Meghan Markle’s groundbreaking interview with Oprah Winfrey is making headlines. During the conversation, which aired tonight (March 7th), Meghan Markle alleged that not only was her son Archie denied a royal title and royal protection, she claims that there were concerns about his complexion. During the interview, she told Oprah — and that there were
“concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
She explained,
“They didn’t want him to be a prince . . . which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security”.
Meghan said,
“we have in tandem the conversation of, ‘He won’t be given security. He’s not going to be given a title.’ And also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
When asked who specifically brought up Archie’s race, Meghan would not reveal the person’s identity. See the clip.

According to reports when Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, married Queen Elizabeth gave them the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Archie was entitled to the “courtesy title,” Earl of Dumbarton. However, the couple announced shortly after his birth that they had not given him a courtesy title and he would be known as Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
