Nipsey Hussle’s Estate Reaches Agreement With Crips Over ‘The Marathon Continues’ Trademark
The battle over late rapper and activist Nipsey Hussle’s (born Ermias Asghedom) The Marathon Continues phrase is over.
As previously reported, Nipsey Hussle’s estate filed a lawsuit against Crips LLC over the rights of the popular phrase in October 2020.
Now, Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, has filed a notice in L.A. County Court Thursday (March 25th), informing the court that the estate has settled with Crips LLC. They are still reportedly detailing specific terms of the agreement but will file the final documents once complete, according to court papers obtained by TMZ.
In the lawsuit, Nipsey’s estate alleged that the Crips filed a trademark for The Marathon Continues roughly two months after he was fatally shot at his Marathon Clothing store. The estate pointed out that Nipsey’s relatives owned multiple Marathon trademarks connected to the store.
Nipsey’s estate requested monetary damages and wanted an order for Crips LLC to get rid of any apparel that had Marathon trademarks.

Eric Holder
Nipsey was sadly shot and killed in Crenshaw on March 31st, 2019. A man named Eric Holder has been in custody as the suspected shooter. He was awaiting his trial, which was postponed in December because of COVID-19. It was pushed back again in January of this year because a judge retired.
