Kanye West Requests Joint Custody In Divorce W/ Kim Kardashian, Doesn’t Want Either Of Them To Get Spousal Support
Kanye West has officially responded in court to Kim Kardashian’s filing for divorce.
As previously reported, Kim Kardashian filed in February after weeks of speculation that she was ready to end their marriage.
She requested for a judge to grant joint custody, and it looks like Kanye West is on the same page.
In his response Friday (April 9th), his lawyer listed irreconcilable differences as the cause for their split. He also requested joint legal and physical custody of their four children (North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, who turns two next month).
He also asked the court to not use its authority to award spousal support for him or his estranged wife.
Kim Kardashian has remained in the Hidden Hills mansion they once shared together while Kanye West is said to be traveling between Los Angeles and his remote ranch in Wyoming.
An insider told PEOPLE,
“Kim plans on staying at the Hidden Hills house with the kids. This is their home and Kim doesn’t want to move right now at least. They both agree that the less stress the kids experience, the better. Kanye loves his kids. He wants them to be happy. He doesn’t want to fight with Kim about anything.”
A separate insider said while he wasn’t happy about the split, he “resigned to reality” after Kim Kardashian filed.
The two went public with their relationship in 2012 and married in 2014.
