Brandy & Ray J’s Mom Sonja Norwood Once Sued The Kardashian Siblings For Allegedly Spending $120K On Her Credit Card

Who knew the drama between the Kardashians and Norwoods went beyond Kim Kardashian and Ray J’s infamous moment?

Just days after DJ Mustard called out his personal shopper for allegedly spending $50,000 of his money for her own luxurious purchases, a lawsuit from Ray J and Brandy’s mother Sonja Norwood against the Kardashian sisters have resurfaced.

According to reports, Sonja Norwood accused Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and their only brother Rob Kardashian of swiping $120,636 on her American Express card. The card was allegedly used to make unauthorized purchases to multiple stores, including Dash and Smooch, which the Kardashian family owned at the time.

The alleged incident took place between 2006 and 2007 when Kim Kardashian worked as a stylist for Brandy and allegedly had access to the credit card for her job responsibilities.

Sonja Norwood told PEOPLE in a previous interview,

“After Ray J and Brandy urged me not to file criminal charges because of their prior friendship, I decided to afford the Kardashians an opportunity to resolve this matter without a lawsuit. When the fraudulent charges were brought to their attention, they apologized profusely, and advised us, through their attorneys, that they would pay the debt in full.”

She added:

“However, they have since reneged on that promise.”

The case was ultimately dismissed and settled in 2009.

Kim Kardashian dated Ray J from 2003-2006, and in 2007 a sex tape of the two of them went viral and arguably launched her and her family’s careers as Keeping Up With The Kardashians premiered shortly after. Kim spoke on the tape in 2019 and said,

“Before ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, when all that sex tape stuff was happening, it was really, really hard. It was devastating to the whole family.”
