R. Kelly Will Be Moved to New York City for Sex-Trafficking Charges, Trial to Begin This August
It looks like R. Kelly has finally received a trial date for the several sex-trafficking charges he’s currently facing. According to reports, after being delayed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic a federal judge has confirmed approval for R. Kelly, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, to be transferred to New York City to undergo a trial for his charges. The 54-year-old singer is currently being jailed at the Metropolitan Correctional Facility in Chicago. An exact transfer date hasn’t been released yet but U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly confirmed that the New York trial can begin on August 9th.

As previously reported, R. Kelly is facing multiple charges; including five counts of racketeering and four more counts of violating the Mann Act. The Mann Act makes it illegal to transport women or girls across state lines for illegal sexual activity. R. Kelly has denied the allegations against him and is maintaining his innocence.
