Childish Gambino Is Being Sued By Rapper Kidd Wes For Allegedly Stealing The Hit Song ‘This Is America’
Childish Gambino is being sued for allegedly stealing his Grammy Award-winning song This Is America. According to reports, an artist named Kidd Wes, born Emelike Nwosuocha, has filed a lawsuit against the FX Atlanta show creator and actor Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, for copying his flow and ripping off his song entitled Made In America. Kidd Wes is claiming that he released his version of the song on SoundCloud in September 2016 and then uploaded his music video to Youtube that same year in November.
In addition to that, he claims that he registered Made In America with the U.S Copyright Office in May 2017 and had plans for the song to be the single for his upcoming album until Childish Gambino released his song This Is America in May 2018.
In his lawsuit, Kidd Wes alleges that the chorus/ hook, of Childish Gambino’s This Is America is
“unmistakably substantially similar, if not practically identical”
to his own song Made In America.
In This Is America, Childish Gambino raps
“This is America / Guns in my area / I got the strap / I gotta carry ’em”
Kidd Wes feels that Childish Gambino’s flow is very similar to his own song where he raps,
“Made in America / Flex on the radio / Made me a terrorist / Pessimistic n*ggas / You should just cherish this”
Kidd Wes is suing Childish Gambino along with, the co-writers of This Is America and the record labels that released the song.

Young Thug
He’s also suing rapper Young Thug, who is responsible for singing the background vocals on the popular track.
