Tyler Perry To Start Production On New Thriller ‘Help’ In 2022
Tyler Perry is keeping his projects coming.
While TV shows like Sistas and The Oval have been going strong on the small screen, he’s switching gears next year.
His Tyler Perry Studios is teaming up with Jason Blum of Blumhouse for the thriller Help. Production will kick off in Atlanta next year.
Tyler Perry and Jason Blum will serve as producers with Tim Palen via Palen’s Peachtree and Vine.
The synopsis hasn’t been revealed yet.
Blum has recently produced “Halloween Kills” and “The Black Phone.”
Before Thriller, Tyler Perry is slated to write and direct the A Madea Homecoming sequel for Netflix. That film is scheduled to be released in 2022.
Despite Perry announcing Madea’s retirement in 2019, the famed director also landed a Madea prequel series for Showtime called Mabel.
It will focus on a crazy 20-something black woman named Mabel Simmons who moved to Atlanta in 1972 when she set the city – and the world – on fire.
Palen is a co-creator and executive producer, along with Perry for Mabel. JaNeika James and JaSheika James will write and executive produce the project as well.
