Mike Tyson Says He Once ‘Died’ While Tripping On Illegal Toad Venom
Mike Tyson is blessed to still be alive after he reportedly died his first time smoking toad venom.
Toad venom is a popular psychedelic drug that is an illegal Schedule 1 substance in the United States. This means that the federal government considers this substance to have no medical value and a high potential for abuse. Other drugs that fall into this category are heroin, LSD, cannabis, and ecstasy. However, users of toad venom claim it has intense spiritual and health benefits.
During a recent interview, Mike Tyson, 55, opened up about his own personal relationship with the drug. According to the former professional boxer, he has ingested the venom more than 50 times since he started using it – some days smoking it as often as 3 times a day. Despite claiming he once died while tripping on the drug, Mike Tyson is still an advocate for the substance. He shared,
“I “died” during my first trip.”
He continued,
“In my trips, I’ve seen that death is beautiful. Life and death both have to be beautiful, but death has a bad rep.”
He added,
“The toad has taught me that I’m not going to be here forever. There’s an expiration date.”
Tyson then touched on what made him start using Toad venom. He said,
“I did it as a dare. I was doing heavy drugs like cocaine, so why not? It’s another dimension.”
He continued,
“Before I did the toad, I was a wreck. The toughest opponent I ever faced was myself. I had low self-esteem. People with big egos often have low self-esteem. We use our ego to subsidize that.”
He added,
“The toad strips the ego.”
According to Tyson, people around him can see a clear difference in his demeanor since he added the venom to his regiment. He added,
“It speaks for itself. If you knew me in 1989 you knew a different person. My mind isn’t sophisticated enough to fathom what happened, but life has improved.”
“The toad’s whole purpose is to reach your highest potential. I look at the world differently.”

Historically, toad venom was consumed by licking the back of a poisonous bufo toad. Now users of the substance can smoke it by consuming a ‘dust’-like substance. Other famous people that have admitted to using toad venom are HGTV star Christina Haack and President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.
