Designer Virgil Abloh Laid To Rest: Kanye West, Kim Kardashian West, Rihanna Attend
Rihanna, Kanye West, Lauryn Hill Amongst Celebrities Who Attend Memorial Service For Virgil Abloh
Virgil Abloh’s memorial honored him in a big way as friends and family gathered to say one last goodbye to the designer.
Virgil’s memorial took place on Monday, December 6 in Chicago at the Museum Of Contemporary Art where many of his celebrity friends including Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky all came to pay their respects.
The memorial was a celebration of the life and accomplishments of 41-year-old creative director who fought a private battle with a rare form cancer. According to reports, while the event did bring about some tears, people were able to hear a heartfelt eulogy by Tyler the Creator who explained that Virgil was able to interact with and inspire people
“of all colors, ages, backgrounds and religions.”
He continued:
That’s what he did, he brought the illest people together.
Guests also enjoyed a live performance from Lauryn Hill who fought back tears as she performed her critically acclaimed 1998 song “Everything Is Everything.” Reportedly, Lauryn choked up and let the band play on as she grieved the iconic visionary.

Virgil Abloh’s longtime friend and collaborator Kanye West also attended the function with wife Kim Kardashian West by his side.
Kanye West was seen signing autographs for fans as they waited out the memorial. The “Jesus Walks” rapper dedicated his Sunday Service to his late friend and longtime collaborator including on Kanye’s latest project, DONDA.
Abloh tragically passed away on Sunday, November 28 at the age of 41 following a private battle with cardiac angiosarcoma and had sought a number of treatments before his death.
He’d just been named as head of Louis Vuitton’s men’s line as their artistic director after a successful run as CEO of Off-White, his own fashion house. Abloh remained relentlessly in the spotlight through collaborations with other brands such as IKEA, Nike, Levi’s, Vitra, and Mercedes Benz.
Virgil Abloh’s final Louis Vuitton show took place in Miami just two days after his tragic passing, and the event doubled as a touching tribute to the late designer.
