Gunna Denied Bond & Will Remain In Jail, RICO Trial Date Set For 2023
Not so good news for Gunna!
It appears the Atlanta rapper may be behind bars longer than initially expected. According to reports, a judge has denied bond for Gunna, 28, and has set a trial date for January 2023! Gunna (real name Sergio Kitchens) was in Fulton County Court on Monday (May 23) where a judge ruled he’ll be held without bond. Although his legal team has the option of filing another motion in the future, there is a big possibility the “Pushin P” rapper could be behind bars for the next 6 months. Reportedly, this is the second time Gunna’s legal team has attempted to get him released on bond.

As previously reported, both Gunna and Young Thug, 30, (real name Jeffery Lamar Williams) were among those named in an 88-page RICO indictment earlier this month. The 56-count indictment names 28 people in connection with gang-related charges including conspiracy to violate RICO, murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and more.

According to Atlanta-based journalist, Michael Seiden–who was present at the recent hearing– Young Thug was supposed to see the judge Monday as well, however, that was postponed to a later date. He explained,
“Attorneys for Young Thug will make their argument for bond on June 2 after prosecution filed motion to have YT’s attorney thrown of the case, citing conflict of interest.”

According to Seiden, prosecutors argued against Gunna’s bond due to him allegedly being one of the leaders of the YSL gang. He wrote:
“Prosecutor Don Geary argued against bond, accusing Gunna of being one of the leaders of YSL. He claims that Gunna is in a “command” position and has the ability to order hits and could intimidate witnesses. Gunna’s defense calls those claims false.”

Seiden also noted that before the judge made his decision against the bond, Gunna’s attorney’s proposed the following bond conditions:
“$750K secured bond House Arrest w/ electronic monitoring Forfeiture of three properties Gunna’s parents will also put up their homes Allow prosecutors to record all phone calls.”

Many fans of Gunna took to social media to express their shock and disappointment that the “P Power” rapper was denied bond and will remain in jail. Some feel as though the legal system is trying to make an example out of him and Young Thug and possibly even ruin their careers.
