Update: Reports claim that Lil Tjay is out of surgery and remains unconscious at the moment. He’s reportedly scheduled for a CAT Scan and except for moving his legs yesterday (June 22), he’s made no other bodily movements. According to NJ police, Tjay was shot multiple times by a man named Mohamed Konate, who was arrested. However, the gunman was also admitted to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

On Wednesday (June 22) just after midnight, Lil Tjay, born Tione Jayden Merritt, was shot in Edgewater, New Jersey. Lil Tjay, 21, is reportedly undergoing emergency surgery and the extent of his wounds has not been disclosed.

According to reports, there were two shooting sites – one of them occurred at a nearby Chipotle and the next one was at an Exxon gas station. The victim at Chipotle was shot multiple times and the victim at Exxon gas station was shot once.

Five hours before he was shot, the 21-year-old shared a public service announcement on his Instagram story:

“PSA. Just because you’ve been around a person doesn’t make you entitled to the fruits of that person’s labor.”

Lil Tjay continues:

“Envy is at an all time high be safe outchea.”

Ex-girlfriend Rubi Rose recently reconnected with Lil Tjay after the rap couple broke up after he was caught texting another woman.  Rubi Rose has yet to disclose any thoughts regarding the rapper’s incident.

Lil Tjay maintains seven million followers on Instagram. He released two studio albums “True 2 Myself” in 2019 and “Destined 2 Win” in 2020 through Columbia Records. Both projects charted in the top 5 on Billboard 200. In 2021, Lil Tjay released “Calling My Name” featuring 6lack which debuted at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
