Kanye West’s’ 5th Divorce Attorney Quits As The Case w/ Kim Kardashian Drags On

It looks like Kanye West has lost yet another divorce attorney!

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian‘s divorce continues to drag on as the rapper just lost his 5th divorce lawyer.

Kim Kardashian, 41, and Kanye West, 45, had a trial-setting conference–a hearing where the court expects each spouse’s lawyer to explain the case’s status– on Friday (Aug. 5) in L.A. as part of their divorce. According to reports, the Chicago rapper’s current divorce attorney, Samantha Spector, had previously asked the judge to relieve her as counsel, saying her relationship with Kanye West was irretrievably broken, but, she wouldn’t say why.

Spector had a date set for next week to officially withdraw, however the judge granted her request on Friday, which means Kanye is yet again without a lawyer. While the “Praise God” rapper is now without legal representation, Judge Cochrane has set a two-day trial date beginning December 14th. While Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were declared legally single after a hearing in March, there are still specifics that need to be ironed out regarding their financial holdings as well as custody rights for their four children.

Kim Kardashian’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, told the judge on Friday that her client has “been ready for quite a while” to get the proceedings underway. However, it would appear that Kanye and his legal team are dragging their feet, as they have failed to file preliminary financial disclosures. Wasser noted that her client had already done so in November of last year.

On Friday, Judge Cochrane told Wasser to officially “invite” Kanye West to respond to the case by September 30. If Kanye declines to respond, the trial will continue anyway and Kim Kardashian will seemingly get the upper hand. The judge also said that if Kanye and Kim needed more time to call witnesses or present evidence, the case would be sent to a different courtroom.

Source close to ‘Skims’ founder Kim Kardashian and ‘Yeezy’ creator Kanye West said the parents are in a much better place than they were before. The source said:

“Kim and Kanye have been co-parenting very well as of late.”

The source continued:

“They are very civil with each other right now, there are no issues. They are both treating each other with mutual respect.”

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian share four children together: North, 9, Chicago, 4, Saint, 6, and Psalm, 3. In 2014 the former couple tied the knot. Six years later, Kim filed for a divorce from West, which the rapper refused to commit to at first. The pair became legally single on March 2, 2022.
