Irv Gotti Responds To Fat Joe Calling Him A Sucker For Speaking On Ashanti & Murder Inc. 20 Years Later: I Feel Like He Fooled Me, He Is Not My Friend

Irv Gotti (real name Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr.) has proven himself to be a man of many, many words. And he’s not letting anyone shut him up—not even Fat Joe.

“I just felt me telling my story would give people more insight of who I am as a person, how I came up and, you know, if I can inspire a few young executives to do it, that’s all great too. I just felt the timing of it all was correct.”

In response to Fat Joe (real name Joseph Antonio Cartagena) calling him a “sucker” for bringing all of this information up 20 years later, Irv Gotti said,

“I feel like he fooled me, he is not my friend. I was fooled. … But in life, everyone goes through friends, people who you thought was your friend. I’ve had countless friends come and go, but you know what remains consistent and why I get through all of it? My family, because I don’t really need friends.”

Irv Gotti has been spilling a lot of tea lately, possibly to promote the official Murder Inc. documentary that will air on Tuesday, August 9. The co-founder of Murder Inc. Records previously claimed to have once been romantically involved with Ashanti —seemingly during his marriage. He was shocked and hurt to found out the “Baby” singer and Nelly were dating.

Gotti also shared that Ashanti‘s 2002 track “Happy,” featuring Ja Rule, was written because of the energy she and him shared during a sexual encounter.

In response to his negative comments about Ashanti, Fat Joe said,

“Whatever Irv has with Ashanti, is 20 years old. I know he was making some points that mean a lot to him..But, when you keep ranting about somebody 20 years later, it felt like he’s not over the young lady. Also we didn’t know that they was f**king. The whole time, I was there, on tour – I never seen them together like that.”

He added,

“I’m not saying they weren’t because they were, there were rumors that they were, I never seen it. But I don’t need to know! It’s okay if it’s a documentary, but to go on Drink Champs and call her a b*tch [and ] keep disrespecting her [is wrong.]”
