Damar Hamlin Showing ‘Remarkable Improvement’ & ‘Steadily Progressing’ Days After Going Into Cardiac Arrest
Things are looking better for NFL player Damar Hamlin.
Three days after suffering from cardiac arrest during a live football game, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is reportedly making great progress.
According to an official announcement from the Bills, the 24-year-old athlete is showing significant changes in the right direction. The statement reads:
“Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours,”
It continues:
“While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress.”
As previously reported, viewers and players were stunned Monday night (January 2nd) when Hamlin collapsed on the field after executing a tackle. Paramedics reportedly performed a 9-minute-long resuscitation attempt before transferring Hamlin to the ICU in an ambulance.
One of the freaky things about the Damar Hamlin hit is that it looked so routine. Blow to the upper chest. Slight glance off the helmet. Then he stands up and completely collapses. Disturbing stuff. #PrayersforHamlin ? pic.twitter.com/YhO09uPpZO

Hamlin’s uncle reportedly explained that his lungs were injured during the incident, adding they are slowly healing. Additionally, doctors have reportedly expressed concern about the amount of time the NFL player’s brain went without oxygen while his heart was stopped. Doctors have reported though that he is “neurologically intact”.
While to the average eye, it seemed Hamlin was hit in a routine manner, many on social media have sparked debates concerning the danger of football. One individual caught President Joe Biden yesterday (January 4th) and asked the political official if he thinks the sport has gotten too violent.
Biden stated he’s spoken “at length” to Hamlin’s parents. Adding he doesn’t think the sport is too dangerous, and that these things are bound to happen. He stated:
“Look, the idea that you’re gonna have, look you’ve got guys that are 6’8″, 340 pounds running a 4.8 40 … If you hit somebody with that kinda … now that’s not what happened here … but I just think it’s, I don’t know how you avoid it,”
President Joe Biden spoken with Damar Hamlin’s father and mother "at length" today.
Biden said he doesn't think the NFL has become too violent. “I think working on the helmets, the concussion protocols, that makes a lot of sense."pic.twitter.com/OAE06FaWIx
