Famous Dex Ordered To Pay $49K After Failing To Respond To Lawsuit Over Stolen Watch
Famous Dex is reportedly on the hook for $49,000 following a default judgement.
The rapper (real name Dexter Tiewon Gore Jr.) failed to respond to a 2021 lawsuit over a stolen watch, leading a Los Angeles judge to approve Michael Francati‘s request for a default judgment on Tuesday (May 2).
Francati — who previously asked to be awarded $172,586 — sued Famous Dex for theft, fraudulent misrepresentation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment, alleging the Chicago rapper stole his luxury watch and lied to police about it.
After the plaintiff gave the rapper permission to display Francati‘s watch on Instagram, Famous Dex allegedly drove off with it. The rapper claimed the timepiece was stolen in a robbery.
Francati reportedly called the police and ended up in handcuffs after Famous Dex accused him of staging the robbery. He later observed the rapper flaunting the watch.
