Ice Spice Has Most Top Five Billboard Hot 100 Hits In 2023
Congratulations are in order for Ice Spice!
It’s been revealed that the Bronx rapper has earned the most Top 5 hits this year on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
Ice Spice scored big with three chart-topping hits: Taylor Swift’s “Karma (Remix),” which currently sits at No.2 on the chart; “Princess Diana” featuring Nicki Minaj, which peaked at No. 4; and she makes a rap appearance on PinkPantheress’ “Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2,” which sits at the No. 3 spot.
It’s safe to say Ice Spice has been winning lately. Last month, it was reported that she broke a record previously held by Nicki Minaj. According to Chart Data, the 23-year-old rapper earned the biggest streaming debut for a female rapper in global Spotify history thanks to her feature on Taylor Swift’s song “Karma.”
It also helped Ice Spice earn the biggest streaming day of her career on Spotify.
Ice Spice rose to prominence in late 2022 with her song “Munch (Feelin’ U),” which achieved viral popularity on TikTok. She followed it up with singles “Bikini Bottom” and “In Ha Mood,” leading up to her debut EP, “Like..?”.
During a previous interview with Billboard, Ice Spice revealed that she owns all of her masters and is in full creative control of her music which is unheard of, especially for a new artist. Her manager, James Rosemond Jr. – son of famed hip-hop mogul James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond set her up for success right from the start.
Rosemond Jr. told the publication:
“I was privy to a lot of [my father’s] deal-making, and me being a sponge allowed me to soak up what contracts looked like and how to approach labels. Deals came to her — production deals, 360 deals — but they were deals that I knew could be better, and in order to get a better deal, you have to go out and do it yourself.”
10K Projects Co-President Zach Friedman added,
“No one on the label side touches the music. There is no traditional A&R with her. No one’s picking beats, no one’s saying, ‘Do this, do that. ‘It’s all her. We’re on her schedule.”
