Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul Sued For Copyright Infringement Over Tornado Video Posted To His Instagram

Now, the company is suing for damages, claiming its ability to make money from the clip was put at risk due to Paul’s posting.

DJ Paul isn’t the only celebrity to be sued for sharing copyrighted content. In May, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Garcelle Beauvais was hit with a federal lawsuit after allegedly posting copyrighted photos to her social media.

In the lawsuit, photographer John Carta reportedly accused the reality star of using images he took of her in New York City without his authorization (or payment) to promote her business. Carta claimed in the suit that he sells the images, like the ones he took of Garcelle Beauvais, to third parties to collect an income.

Reportedly, the photo professional said that he had the images copyrighted, which requires Beauvais to pay for the photos if she’s to use them. His legal team reportedly wrote in the legal document:

“[Garcelle], without permission or authorization from [John], actively copied and/or displayed [John’s] photographs on the Account and engaged in this misconduct knowingly and in violation of the United States copyright laws.”

According to Carta, when Beauvais posted the photos to her Facebook and Instagram his copyrights were violated and the action caused him financial harm. He argued that his plans to profit from his work were disrupted due to the actress sharing his work. Carta was seeking an undisclosed amount in damages for the infringement and a restraining order to prevent further unauthorized use of his work.

However, recent reports claim the photographer dropped the suit.
