Will Smith Confirms ‘I Am Legend’ Sequel Starring Him & Michael B. Jordan Is Moving Forward: ‘The Script Is In’
Looks like fans of the movie “I Am Legend” can officially start getting pumped for its return to the big screen.
During a recent conference the film’s star Will Smith confirmed he will be returning to the project for a sequel and that Michael B. Jordan will be joining as his co-star.
Reportedly Will Smith, 55, spoke about the movie while attending the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia over the weekend. When one of the audience members inquired about the project, he stated:
”I have a call with Michael B. Jordan tomorrow. The script just came in… I’m probably giving away too much information…”

Continuing, Smith went into detail explain how the movie is being created despite his character Robert Neville dying at the end of the first film. As we previously reported, the project’s creator Akiva Goldsman also spoke about the matter back in February while discussing the movie. The filmmaker explained that while Smith’s character did not live in the theatrical release, an alternate ending was released on the DVD which saw Neville survive. Reiterating this point, the Oscar winner added:
”We’re going with the mythology of the DVD version where my character lived…I can’t tell you any more but Michael B. Jordan is in and we’re doing it.”

At this time it’s unclear when we can expect production to begin or when the movie will actually get to theaters. As the dust continues to settle for Smith following the Oscar debacle from March of last year, a number of his once halted projects have seemed to kick into high gear. If you recall, the “King Richard” star faced public admonishing for slapping Chris Rock over a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Films that the movie star had already in the works, which reportedly included the next “Bad Boys” film with Martin Lawrence, were put on pause as his future in entertainment seemed unclear.

However, producers of the action film franchise later claimed they never held back production due to the slap. Lawrence and Smith were spotted on the set of the production back in April. Though it is unclear at this time when the movie will make its theatrical debut.
