Dwight Howard’s $3k Monthly Child Support Payments Terminated As He’s Awarded Temporary Primary Custody of 13-Year-Old Daughter
Dwight Howard scored a minor win in one of his ongoing legal battles.
As previously reported, a couple of months ago the retired athlete filed paperwork seeking full custody of his daughter Layla Howard, 13, whom he shares with Tiffany Render. Howard said that in July 2023, his ex relocated from Georgia to Florida with their child without informing him. He claimed that Render “failed and refused to provide access to the Minor Child” and allowed the teen to post inappropriate TikToks as well.

He also said Render exploited Layla by allowing her to appear on a reality show. Despite Render denying his claims, Howard asked the court to grant him custody of their daughter and terminate his monthly child support payment of $3,000.
It looks like the judge has sided with Howard, at least for the time being. According to a report from RadarOnline, on Tuesday (Jan. 9) the ex-NBA player was awarded temporary primary custody. Reportedly, the judge noted that “despite the instant proceeding, the minor child is in a good and appropriate headspace.”

However, following a hearing testimony and evidence from both parties, it was determined that “it is in the best interest of the minor child for primary custody to change, immediately, to her father, petitioner.”
In addition, the judge agreed to end Howard’s child support obligations, but he was ordered to pay $3,000 to cover Render’s travel expenses. Render was granted visitation rights and both parents will share legal custody of the teen.
A final verdict will be given during a follow-up hearing in May.
