Dexter Scott King, Youngest Son Of Martin Luther King Jr. & Coretta Scott King, Passes Away At 62 Following Cancer Battle

Dexter Scott King, the youngest son of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, passed away today (Jan. 22). According to the King Center, the 62-year-old died after a “valiant battle with prostate cancer.” His wife, Leah Weber King, spoke on the unfortunate situation and reportedly said,
“He gave it everything and battled this terrible disease until the end. As with all the challenges in his life, he faced this hurdle with bravery and might.”
His sister, Dr. Bernice King, expressed,
“Words cannot express the heartbreak I feel from losing another sibling. I’m praying for strength to get through this very difficult time.”
For those who may be unaware, Yolanda King – the first-born child of MLK and Coretta – passed away in 2007. Dexter’s brother, Martin Luther King III, spoke on his death as well and added,
“The sudden shock is devastating. It is hard to have the right words at a moment like this. We ask for your prayers at this time for the entire King family.”
Reportedly, Dexter is survived by his wife of 11 years, sister Dr. Bernice King, brother Martin Luther King III, and his niece Yolanda Renee King.
