Jon Stewart’s Return To ‘Daily Show’ After Nearly A Decade Earned The Show Its Highest Ratings
Jon Stewart’s part-time return to the ‘Daily Show’ desk is doing numbers for Comedy Central.

The 61-year-old host made his return to the program after nearly a decade. During Jon Stewart’s first week back on the late-night show, one of his episodes recorded 1.3 million viewers, according to Nielsen’s live+ same-day ratings.

In addition, the more than 1 million viewers marked the most-watched ‘Daily Show’ telecast since Jon Stewart left in 2015. The ratings also dominated all overnight viewership for Trevor Noah’s run as host, who eventually exited the program in 2022.

Apart from the ‘Daily Show,’ Stewart worked on several projects. He wrote and directed ‘Irresistible,’ a comedy/drama film about a mayoral race in a small Midwestern town.

Then, in 2021, he returned to the talk-show format with ‘The Problem with Jon Stewart,’ a streaming series on Apple TV+. It combined humor with detailed explorations of social issues and was nominated for Emmys in 2022 and 2023. The show ended last year, reportedly due to differences between the comedian and Apple executives.

Stewart went on to receive the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2022 for the laugh he has provided millions of people throughout the years.
