The former USC basketball player was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round last night (Thursday, June 27).

Original Story (April 5, 2024): Bronny James is ready to go pro!
The 19-year-old USC freshman and oldest child of NBA great LeBron James announced on Friday (April 5) that he is officially entering the NBA draft. He shared a graphic of him in his USC jersey and wrote,
“I’ve had a year with some ups and downs but all added to growth for me as a man, student and athlete. I’ve made the decision to enter the NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility, and will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal.”
He continued,
“Thank you to USC for an amazing Freshman year, and as always thankful for my family, friends, doctors, athletic trainers and fans for their support.”
He captioned the post,
“Thank you USC??”

The message comes months after Bronny James suffered cardiac arrest during a USC practice in July. He was in the ICU for a short time before his road to recovery began. He was cleared to return to the court four months later.
A statement from the family’s spokesperson released in November read,
“The James family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible medical team, the entire USC community, and especially the countless friends, family, and fans for their love and support. Fight On!”
According to ESPN, Bronny James averaged 4.8 points in 19 minutes a game during his first year with USC. He also averaged 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
